Besent dominant at Musaeus junior athletics meet
View(s):Besent House collected 243 points to clinch the overall championship at the Musaeus College Junior Inter-House Athletics Meet, which was held at the Mercantile Cricket Association ground in Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo.
De Abrew House finished at second place with 187 points while Higgins House came third overall with 172
oints. With 166 points overall, Olcott House finished fourth. The victorious Besent athletes stole much of the attention producing two champions in Vinuki Onetra Dassanayake, who became the Under-11 champion athlete, and Yasodya Wijeratne, who clinched the Under-9 championship. De Abrew’s Seneli Ruvinya Samaranayake emerged the Under-10 best athlete. The Director of Sports and Physical Education of the Western Province Education Department, Upali Amaratunga, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while Captain Lakshmi Victoria, the President of the Sri Lanka Netball Federation was the Guest of Honour. – NA
