The CIC Group, one of Sri Lanka’s fastest growing multi-business conglomerates, has signed up the services of the international strategy consultancy MTI to chart a new course and future direction.

“In the last five years, the company has made significant strides in the agri business, not merely in terms of the financial perspective, but is also recognized as forerunner playing a catalyst role in an industry that is so critical to the economy. CIC also continues to boast a sizeable non-agri business in the form of paints, chemicals and healthcare. With the expected growth in the Sri Lankan economy and the global challenges that our businesses encounter, we felt it was opportune to engage in a company-wide re-strategizing exercise to map our future direction and alignment of our structure, staff and systems,” said Samantha Ranatunga’ MD /CEO said in a media statement issued by MTI. The project will be based on MTI’s 8S ® model which will be customized to CIC specific strategic circumstances . Initially, developed in 1999, MTI’s 8S ® has continuously improved, benefiting the robust experience of over 150 strategic planning projects over diverse categories, countries and business challenges. It is a very comprehensive model, that sequentially links the 8Ss with a range of models and formats that can be customized to client specific needs. Each sub-module has a strong bottom-line focus and is supported by tools to ensure a bias for implementation, the statement said.

“CIC’s progress in terms of contribution to the national economy, recognition by the key government stakeholders, agri community relationships (from farmers to academics), widespread brand recognition and above all the passionate and loyal employee community – are extremely commendable and unmatched by competition in the local market,” it added.
