The Victoria Higher Education Campus (VHEC) has been established in the heart of Colombo to provide British undergraduate and postgraduate degrees to students from Sri Lanka and the region, commencing in September 2013, using British teaching and learning methods, and quality standards, but delivering them at an affordable price. VHEC is backed by the financial stability of the Edulink Group, which has substantial international experience in setting up and delivering higher education programmes across the world.

VHEC will be formally launched at an event in Colombo’s Cinnamon Grand Hotel on 29th April.

VHEC is fully equipped with modern facilities such as Wi-Fi, lecture rooms with audio-visual, a spacious, relaxing student lounge, an innovative learning environment and free thinking culture, student centred facilities, a library containing several thousand topics and electronic resources, and state of the art Computer Laboratories. The use of IT systems and online learning materials will feature significantly in the teaching.

VHEC is sponsored by the Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lankan and approved by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Higher Education, and will deliver degrees in collaboration with the University of Greenwich in the UK. The University of Greenwich has been voted No. 1 in London for student satisfaction and for teaching quality. These degree programmes are recognised the world over, and are validated and monitored in the same way and to the same rigorous standards as those offered at the University of Greenwich’s London campuses.

The aim of VHEC is to be one of the best British higher education institutions in Sri Lanka and the region, delivering an excellent experience to students, enabling them to move into stable employment and contribute to the local and global economy.

VHEC will draw on the experience of Edulink which has successfully established and developed campuses in Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

The vision of VHEC is to provide high quality British higher education at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate level, across a range of subjects to students from Sri Lanka and the region, helping Sri Lanka to become a regional educational hub.

This will commence in September 2013, with undergraduate degrees in International Business, Accounting & Finance and Computer Science, an MBA in International Business and an MSc in Computer Science. Additional undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Media & Communications, Advertising & Marketing Communications, Creative Digital Media, and Finance & Investment will be introduced in 2014. Degrees in Health, Science and Engineering, and Tourism Management are being considered for later introduction.
Furthermore, Sri Lankan students who register for programmes now for the September intake will be awarded substantial inaugural scholarships.

VHEC students will have the opportunity to study part of their programme at the University of Greenwich in London, UK.
VHEC plans to become a significant part of the higher education scene in Sri Lanka and its commitment to this will be clearly demonstrated at the launch on April 29th.
