Practical photography course
View(s):“They think it’s all about the click, but there’s much more to photography,” says veteran photographer Padmakumar Mettasena who is once again ready to share his knowledge and expertise with aspiring young photographers, through his new photography course that will commence in May. Mettasena will provide students with the opportunity to delve into the practical world of real-time photography through a total of 40 lessons over 10 weeks.
The first four weeks are dedicated to theory, with emphasis on still-life photography and light positioning. In the following six weeks students will have a taste of subjects as diverse as: Event coverage at Five-Star Hotels, Handling corporate clients and photography as a business, Wildlife photography, News photography, Fashion photography and Wedding photography.
Lessons will be held every Tuesday starting from May 7, from 8.30 a.m. at the OIS Institute Ja-Ela (near KFC), while the evening lessons will be held from 5.30 p.m. at 15A, Menerigama Place, Mount Lavinia. Experts in the field – Sanjaya Vithana, Thilak Seneviratne, Dayan Witharana, Bertie Gunasekara and Chitral Jayatilake will share their skills.
A separate course in videography will also be held every Sunday starting from May 12, from 2.30 p.m. – 5.30 p.m. at 15A, Menerigama Place, Mount Lavinia. Experienced videographer Stanley Hettiarachchi will join the lessons as a lecturer.
