Colombo Pharmacy Company has abandoned its old pharmaceutical business and will rely on rent income in future under a new name – Colombo Holding Company, officials said.

This came on the back of an announcement on Thursday by the company to the Colombo Stock Exchange saying that it plans to discontinue the loss making pharmaceutical business subject to shareholder approval.

“We get rental income from our buildings at Union Place and Bambalapitiya and after the special resolution is passed, we will change the name to Colombo Holding Company PLC as it will act as a holding company to our real estate,” an official said. (DEC)
