Karuna Trust ties up with SLF for Wider Community Reach
View(s):The Karuna Trust which was founded in March 2003 by its Visionary Chairman Mr. Mahinda Karunaratne, with the objective of contributing towards uplifting the Quality of Life of the Underprivileged Rural Population in Sri Lanka.is known for “Kindness in Action.” It is a Voluntary Organization managed completely and operated by volunteers. The Karuna Trust was incorporated under the Trust Ordinance of Sri Lanka. It is registered as a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) with the Social Services Ministry of Sri Lanka and with the Centre for Non Governmental Organizations, under the Ministry of Finance of Sri Lanka.
The purpose of Collaboration is in pursuance of common interests in providing education to the masses; and to lead the implementation of providing Rural Leadership Training to Empower School Children. SLF will expand its community reach programme along with its current leadership development programme for school children. This partnership undoubtedly will open up new vistas for developing leadership skills of all school children particularly the children in schools in the underprivileged areas.
SLF as a centre for leadership, education, and training offers a wide range of academic programs in dynamic fields namely, Social and Institutional Development, Psychology and Counseling, Business and Enterprise Management, Language and ICT, Digital Film Academy, Tourism & Hospitality Management and the centre for Wellbeing.
The SLF was incorporated by an Act of parliament in 1973 and functions autonomously under the purview of the Presidential Secretariat and is managed by a Board.
