Calling all ladies – this is a proper ladies night in Colombo just to chill out and have fun. A veteran in the event planning industry, Latika Alok has it all planned out. The venue is the Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo’s signature floating restaurant, 8° and its stunning lakefront garden, Waterside. The time is 6 p.m. onwards till 1 a.m. May 15, she promises, will be a night to remember.
This is the first of a series of events. ‘Cinna-mon Lakeside Colombo partners with The Annix Group to present the first ever Ladies VIP Night, All Dressed Up for women to network, celebrate friendships and make new ones in a safe and fun environment. The event is in aid of the IDE School which focuses on empowering children with special needs.
Be it shopping for speciality clothing, luxury jewellery or modern interior décor, getting pampered by complimentary foot reflexology, non surgical face and body treatment or at the Nail Spa, enjoying complimentary food of a wide range from Mongolian cuisine to Sri Lanka’s favourite Kotthu, drinking complimentary feature cocktails and dancing to DJ music, red carpet photo shoots, or cooking demos ‘All Dressed Up’ is the place to be.
“It’s the first time an event of this calibre is being attempted in Colombo I think,” says Latika. “It’s pampering and shopping and the whole works. The venues will be made over for the event, with the beautiful 8° on the lake being transformed to offer spa and luxury treatments. Ladies will be greeted with a signature Cinnamon Lakeside beverage and welcomed to take in the electric energy of the evening’s activities against the tranquil Beira Lake. Balinese therapists from the internationally recognized and well awarded Azmaara Spa at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo will perform complimentary ten minute foot reflexology sessions on appointment.
An Arabic Lounge will offer Sheisha by the lake. Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo’s Executive Chef will perform cookery demonstrations. The hotel’s award winning mixologists and flair bartenders will share the secrets behind the popular cocktails from the 7 Degrees North menu. The evening will also include a demonstration of the award winning CACI treatment by Rumours Hair Salon and a relaxing VIP Lounge by Originals providing furniture for the individual.”
Expect to see Amani, Amanté, Anything.lk, Azmaara Spa, Cantaloupe Jewels, Carpets by Dhanak, Desert Diamonds, Glitterati, Mimimango, Nail Spa, Originals Furniture, Rumours Hair Salon, Satin Wilder, Silk Road Interiors, The Old Railway, Touché, Trunk, U for Upeksha and 1948 by Shobi Cooke with Aashikii launching ‘Jai by Aashikii’- an exclusive collection of sarees in silks, chiffon satins and georgettes for the occasion.
Their chosen charity is the IDE School. “We would like to help the school’s dedicated team of professional staff and committee members to improve the facilities such as teaching tools and equipment of which they are in urgent need,” Latika says. The Individual Development Education School in Rajagiriya was established in 1994 and caters to the education needs of special needs children of ages three years and upwards. The school currently has 20 students and is administered by a group of Sri Lankan and European volunteers including six qualified teachers and four trainees.
