Saying it with their own shapes and colours
View(s):Exhibition by ‘Colombo Artists’ at Barefoot Gallery
‘Not another art project – Exhibition of visual arts’. The rather terse title of this exhibition organised by the Colombo Artists at the Barefoot Gallery from Friday, May 10 to Sunday, June 2 should provide some clue to what it’s all about.
Colombo Artists is a group of well known artists in Sri Lanka together with some internationally recognised artists who are presenting their work in Colombo. “Colombo Artists appreciate the morale boost that happens from art projects, but this exhibition is an Experimental Exhibition of its own. In most art projects the “Theme” is given to the artists or art work is selected by a curator. The specialty in ‘not another art project ‘is that the artists are given a chance to open their mind without any restrictions or boundaries,” a press release from the group says.
“Artists are not expected to reach goals but to let the creativity come out to the open in their own shapes and colours.”
The exhibiting artists are Cristina Longo(Sweden),Kathryn Hagy, (USA), Vienne Chan (Hong Kong), Andrew Stahl (UK), Deddy Paw ( Indonesia), Cora de Lang (Argentina- Germany) Lisa Tagesson (Sweden), Vidhyasagar Upadhyay (India), Ravikumar Kashi (India), Vinay Sharma (India), Anjani Reddy (India), Nisar Hossain (Bangladesh) R.M.
