IFS Sri Lanka, a subsidiary of IFS Global and a leader in the market of supplying and implementing IFS applications, recently hosted a seminar on the theme of “Increase your profitability by effectively managing your Retail Supply Chain’.

Denis van Nunen, Managing Director of IFS Retail and a leading strategy and solution expert speaking at the event, said “consumer behaviour is changing rapidly and so does the need for retailers to adopt their operations to these changes”.” Research shows that consumers are moving away from being single channel consumers and are moving into multi/omni channel behaviour”.

“Consumers just want to buy whatever they want and whenever they want it and this causes a big challenge for retailers,” he said.
Mr. Nunen also noted that “the traditional approach of having all inventories in a store and hold back a small inventory for online sales will just not do anymore as it does not meet up with the increasing demands of tomorrows consumers”.

He went on to say that “increasing local competencies by collaborating with the IFS retail competence centre will enable more local retailers to benefit from the IFS experience within the retail industry”.

IFS appears to be ahead of this, with the recent release of its latest version of ASR (Assortment Sourcing and Replacement) tool. This gives retailers a sophisticated tool to hold inventory back and source it to the channels where it really sells.

Also with the latest release of IFS, IFS applications 8, retailers can now customise their operations to adapt to its customers needs without making any modifications.
