“In a small painting there can be thousands of strokes. Abstraction indicates a departure from reality in its depiction of imagery in art. When we go sightseeing or may be visit a place, on your return journey what you try to recall is and what comes to your mind which is always a shade of it. Abstract landscaping is pretty much like it,” explains the 33-year-old artist who hails from Galle.

This is his third exhibition. His earlier exhibitions, “Unknown Bird” and “Unknown Bird 2” were inspired by nature. “I hardly use black in my paintings because I believe that black does not exist in nature,” he says.

He feels that in Sri Lanka not many enjoy viewing abstract art, let alone abstract landscapes. But he has enjoyed success abroad. “I have sold numerous abstract paintings in many countries and most of my customers are repeat customers,” he says. The exhibition will be on till May 26.
