This photography exhibition showcases the work of students studying at Advanced Diploma level – from the departments of Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing & Management, Interior Design, Multimedia Design, Visual Communication and Jewelry Design.
The work exhibited, captures a range of images through fashion photography, everyday objects, landscapes and portraits, where students have been challenged to use the camera as a means of documentation, a mechanism for capturing a specific style or fashion trend and as a tool for observing peoples everyday lives.

The visitor to this exhibition, will be treated to a visual feast of colour and texture though images captured by the students throughout their specific areas of study – experimenting with the camera as a form of visual expression – resulting in a body of work which demonstrates a high degree of creativity on many levels.

Raffles Colombo is now offering the much awaited Degree for Bachelor of Design on Fashion design, Fashion Marketing and Management, Interior Design, Multimedia Design and Graphic Design. The Raffles University System is creating a pathway for a strong footing in Sri Lanka’s Private Education Arena by becoming “The First Foreign University” to directly Invest on educating the future of Sri Lanka.

“Private education is a tricky game in Sri Lanka. At the moment there are many schools working with minimal guide lines being followed as far as curriculum being delivered. As such the quality of the education received by the student is always a concern. This is Our Strong point. Quality has always been our strength ” Said Ashan Gunawardena – Marketing Manager for Raffles Colombo.
Later at a discussion Alex Quah – College director of Raffles Colombo stated “Raffles are always known to focus education and training towards vocational attributes and then academic by priority.  Raffles curriculum has been developed through a stringent process before they are approved by relevant accreditation authority.”

A team of Senior Academia who are from their own specialized trade of that program will ask key questions to themselves and the industry partners, “What type of skills and pre-requisites you want to see the graduates possess when they come to work with you?  How many hours of teaching and training are needed for the students to be able to master these attributes to perform well in their job?”, What type of exposure such as internship, field trips and activities that are needed for the students to really know the real working world?

How do students create a good marketable portfolio since they don’t have any actual working experience when they graduate? Many other key questions are asked and the answers are used then as a guide to develop and formulate the curriculum that is delivered to the students today.

The secret to success of our students is not just getting a job.But having the correct exposure and education, to perform closest to what the employers want and delivering results.

The facilitators which are the lecturers with at least 5 years relevant working experience with international qualifications combined with the correct curriculum produce graduates that are expected to deliver optimum results to employers.  These attributes increases the graduates to be successful in their career they embark in. This is what quality education should provide a student in reality.
