ESOF T launches Kingston University, London, Engineering Honours Degree Programmes
View(s):ESOFT, one of Sri Lanka most sought-after institutes for higher education has entered into an MoU with the prestigious Kingston University, London, to deliver its BSc (Hons) degree programmes in engineering at the ESOFT’s dedicated College for engineering studies. ESOFT College of Engineering and Technology is located in “Moratuwa”, an area that has earned a reputation as the hub of engineering studies due to the presence of the world renowned University of Moratuwa.
On top of Edexcel HND programmes in engineering, the College delivers engineering honours UK degrees in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, and Electronics & Electrical Engineering. The degree programmes delivered are of its affiliated UK universities. ESOFT has recently entered into a MoU with prestigious Kingston University, London. After its typically rigorous validation process, Kingston University has now recognized ESOFT College of Engineering & Technology as the only institute in Sri Lanka to deliver its B.Sc (Hons) top-up degrees in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Mechanical Engineering. The students are entitled for all the honours and privileges of a Kingston University student including access to its world class eLearning facilities and attending the graduation ceremony in London. These top-up degree programmes will commence in September 2013 when Kingston University academic year commences in London.
The HND plus BSc (Hons) top-up option gives the most economical pathway to obtain a world recognized engineering honours degree right here in Sri Lanka in the private sector. Students will first enrol into a HND programme in the relevant discipline, which is offered in collaboration with Edexcel, UK. ESOFT has over 4 years of experience in conducting Edexcel HND programmes in IT throughout Sri Lanka and was recognized as the fastest growing Edexcel HND centre with
an Excellence award in 2012. ESOFT College of Engineering & Technology-Edexcel HND programmes will be equivalent, in terms of content and delivery, to the first 2 years of a BSc (Hons) degree. This allows the students to directly enrol into the final year of the Kingston University honours degree programmes paving way for a considerable saving of expenses compared to other options. The total cost will only be a 1/3 of the cost of obtaining the same engineering degree qualifications abroad.
ESOFT College of Engineering and Technology attracts some of Sri Lanka’s most qualified and experienced academics with PhD qualifications in the specific subject areas thereby giving the students the best quality engineering education in the private sector. In addition to the highest quality lectures and the learning environment, the students will benefit from extensive hands-on laboratory sessions using state-of-the-art equipments, lab setups, and latest software tools, closely supervised industrial projects and training. Programme design has given students a frequent exposure and interaction with the related industries to make them better equipped and hence highly employable by the time of graduation. ESOFT is currently in the process of obtaining accreditation from relevant UK professional institutes. With 4 years of academic qualification including an MSc in the fourth year, graduates will have satisfied the academic qualification for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status as well as full membership of international and local professional bodies such as ICE, EIOB, IET (UK), IESL.
ESOFT’s latest grand initiative has already been commended by many international and local educationalists and parents as limited opportunities in within the country has deprived thousands of deserving Sri Lankan students of a quality engineering education. ESOFT College of Engineering and Technology is Sri Lanka’s only private sector higher educational institution dedicated exclusively for engineering studies. Producing globally employable engineering and technology professionals is central to its mission.
Students with minimum of three A/L passes can enrol for the 2nd intake of the HND programmes commencing in June, 2013. Parents and students can obtain further information by calling 011-75 75 480 or by visiting the College at 314, Galle Road, Katubedda, Moratuwa.
