‘Ammawarune’ shows epitome of love
View(s):Symbolizing the epitome of motherly affection especially of Sri Lankan mothers the newest teledrama ‘Ammawarune’ is being now telecast at 8.30 pm from Monday to Friday on the Swarnavahini channel.
Directed by experienced filmmaker Christie Shelton Fernando, the teledrama features a cast comprising experienced and up and coming stars VasanthiChathurani, AnulaKarunathilaka, NeharaPeiris, MenakaRajapakse, ChamilaPeiris, Cletus Mendis, DamayanthiFonseka, LahiruMudalige, Maureen Charuni, MuthuTharanga, Gihan Fernando, DinakshiPriyasad, JanakaKumbukage and UthpalaMadhushan.
The story revolves around a mother hailing from an ancestral family but now undergoing dire financial constraints. Sarojini is the eldest daughter in a well-respected village family. The family which had held the post of village headman for several generations, is today left with only the colossal ancestral home and some property. She becomes a widow even before her daughter Madhavi attains age. She lives with her aged mother.
Despite all the hardship, she tries to uphold her family’s values and traditional principles. Her daughter Madhavi is an independent, studious girl. Sarojini cautiously manages the meager income they get from the remaining family property. Despite Sarojini taking good care of her sick mother, her commitment and dedication is not appreciated.
Janaka Yahampath handles camera while Thivanka Udagedara edited the teleplay, Shasheen Atapattuhandled make up and Priyantha Ranasinghe art direction.
