Going retro for a cause
View(s):Think retro, think young. If you thought the good old classics were for the oldies these guys are about to prove you wrong! For an evening of fantastic music for a cause make a date with ‘Go Retro’, a musical show featuring the best of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
‘Go Retro’ will bring the legends of the genre back into the game, along with a choice selection of the hottest young retro bands in town. They’ll be paying tribute to music that a generation grew up with-music that a new generation has begun to embrace. The organizers of the concert hope to revitalize the local retro music scene with this show;
“We wanted to show the retro music lovers that the music they love isn’t limited to a few popular bands they always associate with. There are young artists who play the same music as good as-or at least close to-the legends’!” Embracing this idea upcoming bands Glory, Sintonia, Missing Link, Battery and Backstage will highlight the show, while legends Noeline Honter, Rajitha Rupasinghe of Misty, Clifford Richards and Mirage will also join them for a night to remember.
The concert is organized by the Senior Wesley Guild of the Methodist Church Koralawella in aid of the church building fund. The Methodist Church of Koralawella was built in the late 1800’s. To mark the 125th anniversary, the church embarked on a project to build a new church complex to better serve the people. This event is one of many that will pour funds into a Rs. 48 million project that will benefit the community.
So come on, get your best vintage on and ‘Go Retro’ from 7pm onwards on June 8 at the Bishop’s College Auditorium! Tickets for the show are available at the Park Street Mews, The Commons and Yamaha Music Centre.
