Timeless classics from the Symphony Orchestra
View(s):The Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka conducted by Dushyanthi Perera and featuring Eshantha Peiris as piano soloist will be performing at ‘Soiree’, a fund raising concert on Sunday, June 9 at 7 p.m. at the Ladies’ College Hall to raise funds for Chundikuli Girls’ College, Jaffna.
The programme consists of timeless classics such as Strauss’ Overture to the Fledermaus and Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty ballet music, as well as Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera. The evening will also include music by A.R. Rahman and feature the perennial Sri Lankan favourite Dhanno Budunge which is also known as the Hymn for Ceylon.
Chundikuli Girls’ College is a private day and boarding school for approximately 1600 girls in Jaffna. The vision of Chundikuli Girls’ College is to nurture its students to give them the best chance in life. This is done by creating an academic and social culture based on religious, racial and economic diversity, and a climate of equality in every aspect of life.
