Vijitha Central races to the fore
View(s):Athletes from Vijitha Central College Dikwella performed well at the 27th Matara District Athletics Championship, held at the Uyanwatta Stadium on the May 20 and 21, with five of their athletes being adjudged best performers in their respective age groups.
A few events had to be called off due to the prevailing bad weather and it also prevented athletes from performing at their best.
The President of the Athletics Association of Sri Lanka, Major General Palitha Fernando, the Chief Guest at the event, presented a memento to coach Y K Kularathne for his many years of service to the district. – Text and pix by P.D. de Silva
