Degree better than A/Levels
Why start a degree after O/Levels?
After receiving O/Level results the popular option will be to do A/Levels. Studying for A/Levels is the traditional option. According to the University Grants Commission (UGC) less than 10% out of two hundred and thirty thousand (230,000) A/Level candidates are given the opportunity to study in state universities. That means more than two hundred thousand (200,000) students fail to achieve their objectives with A/Levels. This gives a clear indication for parents to look at alternative education options after completing O/Levels. Spending two and half years preparing for a university selection exam does not guarantee a career pathway for students. The competitive nature of the A/Level examination requires extra tutorial classes in addition to usual school hours. The time and money spent can be invested in an alternative educational options leading to a future with more assurance. Many students and parents consider these university programs above A/Levels which deliver superior value.
American University Education
American Higher Education is characterized by its career focus; an emphasis on acquiring knowledge, skill and continual assessment, not just exam-based evaluation; an interactive teaching style combining classroom theory with real-life practical experience; and a unique flexibility that allows students to fine-tune their education for specific interests and career opportunities.
These factors have helped make American Higher Education the most sought after option for after O/Level students in Sri Lanka. America is indeed the World’s No. 1 Destination for international students. Now, this same education is offered in Sri Lanka at much lower cost, bringing the quality and opportunity of American university education to a much greater number of Sri Lankan students.

Flexibility means Better Opportunities
The flexibility of the American system allows students to maximize their career options and focus on their strengths and interests, rather than just doing a “generic” degree. For example, a Marketing student can add 5 courses and qualify for a dual qualification that includes Management – making the student eligible for much more rapid career advancement to Management positions.
A Psychology student can add business courses and gain the skills required to open their own practice or move into psychology-related positions in business or industry. This allows students to access endless course combinations and opens up absolute best career opportunities in areas related to a student’s own personal interests. Not all students are the same and the best jobs come from combining personal interests and strengths with specific career opportunities, not just completing the same set of modules as everyone else. The American system is designed for this and produces individual graduates, not batches. Direct university oversight ensures quality of an international standard, yet with university subsidies and scholarships, Sri Lankan students after O/Level will find the cost of their American degree to be competitive with all other university options.
