View(s):‘Country before self’, is the motto that is the driving factor behind every action taken by students, teachers, past pupils and administrators at D.S.Senanayake College. The embodiment of this is seen in the passion and vision given to all activities undertaken by the school.
In its 46rd year, the school has achieved great heights of success in every field. It is a state run education institute that was founded in 1967 by R.I.T Alles – a pioneer in education who needs no introduction.

The values and beliefs inculcated in the children from early days has resulted in the college turning out young men who have gone on to achieve great things in the business, medical, legal, sports and arts fields – both locally and internationally. The college is also a multi ethnic, and multi religious school promoting values and respect to everyone equally. In today’s turbulent world this is a very important factor that must be ingrained in the future generation.
.Under the guidance of Principal MrD.M.D.Dissanayake., many more projects for the development of the school and the society have been planned for the future. As new projects for the school in 2013,@ The ultra modern state of art college hall will be completed in October 2013.@ All language and spoken English skills will be developed by teachers skilled in languages.This is essential today for the children to develop brotherhood with all communities.@ The school laboratory will be developed with ultra sound multi media units @ The college grounds will be upgraded with more facilities to encourage more children to take part in sports@ The facilities in the library will be further developed to inculcate the habbit of reading among children.@ More staff development programmes will be done with the objective of developing unity among them. @ Educational results improving programme will be undertaken for grade 5 scholarships,GCE O/L, and GCE A/L exams.@ The school will also undertake special emphasis to develop under priviledge schools in remote areas with the participation of OBA and school development society
Promotion of extra curricular activities has also been of vital interest to Mr.D.M.D. Dissanayake.. Every student, from their young days is encouraged to participate in some form of extracurricular activity. This helps a child to grow physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. An all round education given with love and care as well as strict discipline is the standard set at D.S.Senanayake College.
D s senanayake college has all the facilities for the children, swimming pool, gymnasium, playground, state of art IT room,state of art refurbished college hall under construction to accomadate 3000 people in the heart of the city at its best premises.
The primary sector of the school which is catogirised by the ministry of education as a model primary is one of the best in the island. The environment of the school has been upgraded with landscape and eco friendly surroundings .Vegetable cultivation to teach the children the importance of planting fruit trees has been given prominence in line with ministry of education regulations.We have set forth our plans to develop the primary to the standard of reputed international schools.
With the implementation of the plan, D.S.Senanayake will not be second to any of the leading schools in the island in producing not only good results in studies,but also in sports.
The grand vision of the school in the year 2020 includes an old boy occupying a leadership position in the UNO, producing a scientific inventor and probably a gold medallist.The vision gives prominence to sports and science as essentials
