RAFFLES: A career before graduating

Raffles students take on the world with having their lives and careers setup and running even before graduating. Such are the life stories of the first batch of graduates of Raffles Colombo. With a benchmarking Graduation Ceremony and one of the most innovative and creative fashion shows ever held in Sri Lanka, under the direction provided by the world renowned designer Mr. Dinesh Chandrasena and Ms. Andreea Lonhardt (Lecturers at Raffles 
Colombo). The Fashion Show was preceded by the Exhilarating Video presentation and Exhibition of the graduates in Multimedia and Graphic Design.
The Director at Raffles Colombo, Mr. Alex Quah addressed the press, media and audience that challenged the mindset on the topic of private education in Sri Lanka as well as giving the audience a true understanding of the weight, the name “Raffles” carries “Globally”. When interviewed, he said “Our graduates fresh from the oven were hunted by employers even before they graduated. It’s a true story; Most have their hands full just before graduating only at an Advanced Diploma level, imagine if they graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree? Studying with Raffles is not just a passport or a license to get employed but also a guarantee that you are bound for success. Examples such as Anjali Kaunatilake, Isuru David, Melissa Jayatilake and Christiana De-Silva are some of the many stories of our students that have experienced this demand as well as achievement equipped with only an Advanced Diploma in hand.”
This elevated to the next point, in announcing the Future of Raffles as a premier higher education Provider in Sri Lanka. “Raffles Education Corporation’ has signed an Agreement with Board of Investment to set up a University College in Sri Lanka. Raffles Education Corporation has received in-principle approval for the establishment of a University from Ministry of Higher Education Sri Lanka to deliver Bachelor’s Degree program. Our own fully owned University College by Raffles Education. Recognised internationally for the purpose, to serve and contribute to the development of Sri Lanka.” Raffles Sri Lanka just completed a major upgrading for the purpose of setting up a University College in Sri Lanka. The state of the art facility now comprises a library on the top floor accompanied with a cozy student area where the historic colonial memories of Sri Lanka lining the walls giving the library a theme of History through Photography. The 
new Student Lounge on the rooftop happens to be the first Eco-Friendly terrace with a beautiful ocean view. The building oozes creativity with a different color theme for each floor to student work being displayed at every corner for inspiration. The facility shouts innovation and perfection. Complete with Mac and PC Lab with up to date design software’s to fashion rooms with the latest high end sewing machines, drafting and draping rooms to carry out workshops and classes, the facility is a benchmark for design education. The campus also includes state of the art facilities in the photography and interior design studios for the students to shoot away learn and have fun.
