SLIIT leverages industry expertise to deliver world class Masters degree programmes

SLIIT has commenced enrolment for the UGC approved SLIIT MSc. degree programmes as well as the MSc. in Enterprise Applications Development (EAD) in collaboration with academic partner Sheffield Hallam University (UK).
SLIIT offers flexible two-year Masters degree programmes consisting of four semesters each, offered in the following streams; the MSc. in Information Technology, which has been specifically designed for graduates in the fields of Information Technology, Computer Science and Computer Engineering, providing participants with core advanced knowledge and skills in IT, which is supplemented by a range of options within the areas of Software Engineering, Computer Networks, e-business Technologies, database Management, and Business Information Systems. The degree is designed to focus on current industry trends and emerging developments in IT, in addition to providing in-depth knowledge concerning advanced topics for participants to competently function as high-level specialists, advisors, consultants, project managers and practitioners in the field of IT. The MSc. in Information Management has been designed for graduates and members of professional bodies with managerial experience. This programme gives participants a real edge in modern business development and planning using Information Management tools, and equips students with the information management skills and technical background necessary to function in an organization effectively in fast changing business environments with increasing use of Technology. On completion of the Programme, participants will be able to utilize information Management systems effectively within organizations and to evaluate and select appropriate methods and technologies for representing, transforming and disseminating information. This will enable participants to develop a critical awareness of modern IT applications in information management and decision making, and to learn how business processes can be augmented with IT solutions to manage corporate performance.
SLIIT’s MSc. in Information Systems focuses on high-tech innovations in the field of IT and its successful integration to business. Managing the effective application of information technologies in modern business organizations requires a blend of business and technical expertise. Students need a good understanding of the significant issues while facing enterprises throughout the business sector, as well as the impact of rapidly evolving technologies in information handling and communication. The demand for leaders of this sort, often referred to as ‘hybrid managers’, is growing rapidly as these technologies become the cornerstone of strategic effectiveness for many enterprises. This programme is especially designed for graduates who seek to be professionals in Business Information Technology where they can apply IT innovations to change the way businesses work. Information Systems is a diverse and rewarding subject and this course covers several core areas where students will develop sound theoretical and practical understanding of business information systems, technology and associated strategies. These programmes are structured in a manner expedient to students who wish to continue their studies up to PhD level, where they will be provided with the requisite knowledge and tools necessary to further more individual and self-directed research required for PhD studies. Eligibility requirements for these two year degree programmes include a Bachelors degree or membership of a recognised professional institute in a relevant field.
The two year MSc. Degree programme in Enterprise Applications Development is conducted entirely at SLIIT by experienced lecturers from SLIIT’s long-standing academic partner, Sheffield Hallam University (UK), SLIIT faculty and leading experts from the industry. Sheffield Hallam University is regarded as one of the most progressive and internationally recognised universities, possessing strong academic and industry links to ensure that students are exposed to the very best resources and training. SHU has also been ranked as the number one university in the UK for teaching quality and student learning experience. Students must possess a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology with a first or upper second class with two years’ experience in Software Development, or a recognised degree in a relevant field with three years’ experience in Software Development, or membership of a recognised professional institute in a relevant field as approved by SLIIT, to be eligible for the MSc. in Enterprise Applications Development degree programme.
