Show your talent at ‘Fête de La Musique’
View(s):It’s June and the Alliance Française de Colombo will once again hold their popular ‘Fête de La Musique’ (International Music Day ) on Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at their auditorium at No. 11, Barnes Place, Colombo 7 .
‘Fête de La Musique began in France in 1982 on June 21 and now this music festival is celebrated all over the world. Every year professional and amateur musicians in France take to the streets and parks on this day to celebrate the arrival of summer. Thousands flock there to enjoy the music free of charge and performers embrace all kinds of music.
Here in Sri Lanka, the Alliance invites musicians to showcase their talents. There is no age limit and no language rules. Individuals, school bands, school music clubs, Interact clubs, dance groups are all invited to perform -pop, jazz, rap, Country & Western, disco, rock, Baila or anything in music goes…..
The best part is that it’s free of charge and the organisers Alliance Française de Colombo provide the hall, sound systems etc. Annesley Malewana and the Super Chimes will provide the background music.
A carnival atmosphere is promised with guest artistes. Food and soft drinks will be available at reasonable rates. For application forms to participate, contact the Alliance Française de Colombo at 11, Barnes Place, Colombo 7 – Tel 2694162 / 2693467.
