British School win for firm foothold in U13 Cricket Quadrangular
View(s):The British School in Colombo pulled off an emphatic 42 run victory over Asian International School at the inaugural Under-13 Quadrangular Cricket Tournament, which kicked off last Wednesday.
After four days of continuous play the tournament ended yesterday at the Health ground in Castle Street, Colombo. The participating schools are hosts British School in Colombo, Asian International School, Stafford International School and Wycherley International School. After two days of play hosts British School in Colombo were in a strong position.
The British School in Colombo batting first posted a healthy 111 for 7 from their allotted 20 overs with opener Salman Ali making a top score of 32 runs. In reply Asian International School were restricted to 69 for 6 in their quota of 20 overs with Dilan David taking the bowling honours with excellent figures of two wickets for 12 runs from four overs.
In another preliminary round fixture played at the same venue Asian International School snatched a thrilling four-wicket victory over Stafford International in a low-scoring encounter.
Stafford International was bowled out for 86 runs in 22 overs and Asian International School reached their target in the last ball of the innings scoring 87 for 6 in exactly 30 overs.
Earlier Stafford International defeated Wycherley International School by 14 runs in the opening match of the tournament. Stafford International hit up a formidable 131 for 7 from their 28 overs and then restricted their opponents to 117 for 6 in the same number of overs.
