Hotel Show 2013 attracts 14 countries, over 250 stalls

The hotel industry’s exhibition in South Asia is scheduled to be held next month in Colombo with the main highlight this year being the world famous chef championship, Bocuse d’Or Competition’s Sri Lanka round held on the opening day.

Conducted for the 8th consecutive year under the theme “Hotel Show 2013: The Showcase for Hotel Supplies and Services” from July 26-28 at the BMICH, Chairperson of the Organising Committee Trevine Gomez referred to it, at a recent media briefing, as “a one of a kind event that will most certainly be the pinnacle of all hospitality related exhibitions”.

Currently over 250 stalls have been booked with suppliers from over 14 countries including the UAE, Turkey, India and Thailand participating at this year’s event.

A large variety of hotel supplies and needs will be showcased, and with the support of the Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association the event is set to be an immense success.

Most excitingly for the first time the Sri Lankan finals of the world famous Bocuse d’Or Competition – a biennial world chef championship will take place on the opening day of the show.

Bocuse d’Or Sri Lanka President Chef Rohan Fernandopulle explained the prestige of local chefs participating at this competition adding that it clearly showcased the high standards maintained by the local hospitality industry.
The winner of the Sri Lankan competition will go on to compete in the Asian finals, followed by the world finals in France.
