UNP Ratnapura District MP Dunesh Gankanda was ordered to appear before court on August 8, by Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage, for allegedly assaulting and biting the nose of a businessman. Businessman V.N. Thivakaran, a resident of Colombo 3, has lodged a complaint against the politician saying he has sustained serious injuries following an assault on him by MP Gankanda on May 27, 2013, at a five-star hotel in Colombo.
