Inspired Peiris propels BRC to victory
View(s):After conceding a 1-0 lead at half time, BRC’s Gihan Peiris exploded to fire his side to a 3-1 win over Old Anandians, in their CHA conducted Andriesz Hockey fixture, at the Astro Turf on Thursday.

Old Anandians drew first blood when centre half Geepal Dias, receiving a pass from right inside Prabath Jayasuriya, put his side one up in the 12th minute, sending them into halftime with a lead.
However in the second half BRC equalized when right inside Indika Prasanna made a cross pass for centre forward Gihan Peiris to sound the boards in the 34th minute and nine minutes later BRC took the lead when Peiris scored his second goal off a pass from Prasanna Kumara.
In the 58th minute, BRC sealed victory when left extreme A. Muhengoda got his stick onto the ball to score and give BRC a 3-1 win.
The game was controlled by M. Vitharana and Dharshana Liyanage, while H.L. Mithrapala was the third umpire. – BM
