Vishwa Wijeratne cracked a determined 109 and C. Gunasinghe picked a five-for as SSC thrashed Royal Knights by 145 runs in a SLC Inter-Club Division III cricket match played at the Surrey ground in Maggona.

The match which was played as a 35-overs-per-side affair produced some good efforts from the SSC players as they wholly dominated the game. Batting first SSC posted 231 runs for the loss of seven wickets with Wijeratne hitting 109 and Sanka Ramesh clobbering with a useful 56. B. Sampath picked two scalps.

Chasing 232 in 35 overs Royal Knights never saw the winning post as they lost wickets at regular intervals and eventually reeling out at 86. Sampath returned to top score with 21. Gunasinghe ended with impressive figures of 5 for 22 while veteran leg-spinner Suranjith Silva bowled effectively to end up with impressive figures of 2 for 3.
