Lankan dancers attract more visitors at BITE travel fair
View(s):Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), along with 25 local travels agents and hotels, has successfully participated in BITE 2013 (Beijing International Travel Expo) the largest international travel exhibition in China for the 10th consecutive year.
The Sri Lankan stall was more attractive (than other country stalls) with the country’s dancing group entertaining visitors with traditional dance performances and becoming one of the most photographed stalls at the event, a media release issued by the SLTPB stated.
The Sri Lankan travel agents participated in this event met with around 1000 of their counterparts, representing over 81 countries of the world.
The Sri Lankan stall at the BITE was opened on June 21 by Sri Lankan Ambassador to China Ranjith Uyangoda. Ms.Chen Hong – Vice Mayor,Beijing; Guo Jin Long – Party Secretary, Communist Party of China and Wimal K. Arunampalam, Minister Counsellor – Sri Lanka Embassy in Beijing also participated in this event, it was stated. BITE 2013 concluded on June 23 during which time the SLTPB also arranged business meetings, exclusive media interviews and conducted destination promotion presentations.
The SLTPB has arranged to hold promotion campaigns in the major cities of China, the release said. These events would comprise Web Marketing, Bus Branding campaign, Three Day Joint Promotion campaign, Trade FAM tours, Visiting Journalists Programme and Social Media Networking.
By the end of 2013, the SLTPB expects 1.25 million arrivals from worldwide destinations with the expected turnout from China targeted at 60,000 visitors.
Hotels and travel agents that participated at the event were: Mac Travels (Pvt) Ltd, Amaya Resorts & Spas, Jetwing Travels, Walkers Tours Ltd, Life Leisure Holidays(Pvt) Ltd, Lanka Sportreizen, Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo, Exotic Holidays International (Pvt) Ltd, Aitken Spence Travels (Pvt) Ltd, Blue Lotus Tours (Pvt) Ltd, Seasons Travels, Nkar Travels & Tours Pvt Ltd, Ceylon Roots, Ceylon Legend Travels, Butterfly Vacations, Get Into Lanka Travels and Tours, Absolute Sri Lanka, George Steuart Travel Ltd, Aitken Spence Hotels, Royal Holidays, Mount Lavinia Hotels Group, Cinnamon Grand Colombo, Tangerine Tours, Exotic Global Holidays (Pvt) Ltd and the Kingsbury, the release stated.
