Google I/O is an annual developer-focused conference held by IT heavyweight Google, featuring highly technical, in-depth sessions focused on building web, mobile, and enterprise applications with Google and open web technologies such as Android, Chrome, Chrome OS, Google APIs, Google Web Toolkit, App Engine and more. This event has been held annually since 2008 and the hosts saw a participation of over 5500 web, mobile, and enterprise developers this year. They contributed in building applications in the cloud with Google and open web technologies, during the interactive sessions in San Francisco.

The event was organized by Google and Mobitel, allowing members of the IT fraternity in Sri Lanka to not only experience and interact with developers around the world but also to connect with other talented developers in Sri Lanka and play a pivotal part in the local interactive sessions like ‘Business Opportunities in Android developments in Sri Lanka’ and ‘Trends in the mobile telecommunication industry’ and Hackathon Sessions (an event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers and project managers, collaborate intensively on software projects) with demonstrations.
