Joes record fifth straight win
View(s):St Joseph’s College’s ‘B’ team recorded their fifth straight victory when they beat Mahanama ‘B’ by 11 runs in a Sri Lanka Schools Under 15 Division Two tournament game, played at Darley Road recently.
The game, which was reduced to 33 overs due to rain, saw SJC batting first and scoring 122 for 8 wickets in their allotted overs. Their total was built around a 56-run stand for the second wicket between Marlon Steinwall (24) and Jehan Fernandopulle (26).
The visitors were cruising at 46 for 1 at one stage but then lost wickets at regular intervals to be bowled out for 111. Tharindu Senarathna top scored for Mahanama while leg spinner Shehan Rodrigo was the pick of the bowlers taking 4 for 18.
In another game against Prince of Wales ‘B’, St Joseph romped home by six wickets. Left-arm leg spinner Sharman Dhanushka picked up five wickets to bowl out Prince of Wales for just 80 runs. In reply the Joes reached the target in the 27th over.
