Bond University – Australia’s premium provider of personalised tertiary education
View(s):As the country’s first private not-for-profit university, Bond University has changed the face of tertiary education in Australia.
Modelled on the traditions of the world’s leading educational institutions, it was built around the ideal of providing a personalised learning experience where students work in small classes, mentored by leading experts in their respective fields.
On the landscaped 50-hectare campus, they have access to multi-million dollar facilities and the very latest technologies that mirror the highest quality workplaces, and their theoretical knowledge is complemented by practical experience and life skills garnered through internships with global corporations and international exchange opportunities.
Over the past 24 years, this bold approach has emerged as the benchmark for best practice in tertiary education. Bond consistently ranks as one of Australia’s leading universities in independent reviews such as the Good Universities Guide. Its Law school is rated as one of the best in Australia. The Bond MBA is ranked in the country’s top eight.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Tim Brailsford attributes the success of Bond University to its uncompromising approach to providing high quality, student-focussed and industry relevant education.
“At Bond University, each student is treated as an individual, not just a number,” he said.
“We have one of the lowest staff-to-student ratios in the world, and our students reap the rewards of individual attention and mentoring – something that has been lost in many of the larger public institutions.
“They also benefit from being part of an international cohort of students from over 80 countries who make up an estimated 30% of the student body and bring a truly global perspective to our lectures and discussion-based tutorials.”
A key attraction for many prospective students is Bond’s three-semesters-per-year timetable, offering intakes in January, May and September. Without the long holiday breaks scheduled by most universities, Bond students can complete a 24-subject Bachelor degree in two years and a 12-subject Master in one year.
Bond also offers PhD qualifications and Professional Masters programmes of 92 weeks which combine postgraduate qualifications with five months ofwork integrated learning.
“All of our programmes incorporate innovative content and blended teaching methodologies, designed to develop the practical insights and experience preferred by employers,” said Professor Brailsford.
“Here on campus, our students have unparalleled access to world-class facilities such as the Macquarie Trading Room where they can conduct simulated share trades based on live-feed data, an e-court room incorporating the technologies used in the High Court and the award-winning Mirvac School of Sustainable Development – Australia’s first 6 Green Star rated educational building.
Bond has also placed a strong emphasis on external partnerships with multi-national corporations, leading industry associations, government departments, international universities and their own global alumni network, providing multiple opportunities for students to complement academic learning with internships, exchanges and networking.
This unique educational model has enabled them to attract top quality, motivated students, driven by the desire to realise their potential. A very generous scholarship programme extends this opportunity to other high achieving scholars from around Australia and overseas.
Bond University will be hosting an information session for Sri Lankan students wishing to study in Australiaon Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo, Sri Lanka.
