Schoolchildren spearhead protection of railway crossing

A collection of Rs 15 million from schoolchildren in 8 provinces was utilised to install a barrier at the Alimankada railway crossing called Senehasaka thotupala, work on which commenced on July 24. The Education minister, deputy Transport minister, NP governor, Maj. Gen. G.A. Chandrasiri and five provincial education ministers, along with schoolchildren of all provinces, were involved in inaugurating work on the barrier, where nine foundation stones were laid.
The construction of this barrier will be completed by November this year.
