View(s):Bridal Show, Exhibition and Sewing and Handwork Competition The 3L Project (Life-Long, Learning) Sri Lanka successfully concluded a bridal show, an exhibition and competition of sewing and handwork on Wednesday, June 5, 2013.
Each of the 17 participants in the Bridal Dressing Course, displayed their skills by dressing a bride, which included hair-styling,
make-up, creation of bouquets and matching accessories.
At the end of the programme, awards were presented for the categories of; Best Hairstyle, Best Saree Drape, Best Make-up, Best Bouquet, Best Accessories and 1st 2nd and 3rd places for the Best Dressed Bride.
The Exhibition and Competition in cluded painted pottery, embroidered sarees, table-ware, household linen, glass painting, soft toys and baby clothes. Six finalists were selected.
The 3L Project
The 3L Project conducted by the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association is funded by the Asia Pacific Region of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
• The 3L project in Sri Lanka commenced in June 2012 and is targeted at 30 young women between the ages of 18 – 30 years of whom 20 are married and have one or more children; living in the slums of Mattakkuliya located within the city of Colombo.
• The project is aimed at uplifting the lives of these young women, by providing them with opportunities for self-employment / employment with training in life skills and skills for income generation.
