Danceworld promises a cocktail of moves
Dancing is a passion. It combines the body and mind to a perfect rhythm that touches your soul. For this group of young dancers it’s their chance to shine with their passion and skill. The Danceworld School of Modern, Jazz & Ballet presents their annual show for the seventh time, titled ‘Jazzing’ – Rhythm of the Soul’ on August 10 and 11 at the Lionel Wendt from 7 p.m.
“As performance is an important part of any dance curriculum, Danceworld offers its students the opportunity to showcase their talents in our annual concert. With this in mind I have been preparing for the first time in the eight years as a teacher, a senior show for 2013. This show is also a tribute to my assistant teacher/choreographer, Deshana de Alwis, who is going abroad for further studies,” says producer and director, Sureka Buell.
Deshana says that while she’s sorry to leave she is looking forward to continuing dancing in university as well. Sureka who has been a dancer for more than 30 years started Danceworld in 2005 in response to popular demand. Her school caters to all dancing enthusiasts from the age of six to 20. The show will be a 90 minute production with 18 items in total and will feature 50 students ranging from the age of 8 and 20.
““The show will be a thrilling cocktail of entertainment in the form of Contemporary, Modern, Jazz and Street Jazz and even a fusion dance uniting western dancing with Kandyan styles. It’s an all-girl show and they are very energetic,” Sureka adds.
The box plan and tickets will be available at the Lionel Wendt. For further information contact 0777558349 or 0777766323.
