The 43rd Mercantile Rugby Football Sevens 2013 sponsored by Dialog has been cut short by a day according to its organisers, the Mercantile Rugby Football Association. The much awaited annual Sevens tournament to be held in Sri Lanka, was earlier scheduled to be held on August 9, 10 and 11 at the CR&FC grounds in Longdon Place. But due to the Ramazan Festival, falling on August 9, the competition will be held, on August 10 and 11. The venue will remain the same.
According to new amendments play will commence as early as 8.00am and will go on till 9.30pm, under lights, on the opening day, which is August 10. The knockout stage of the tournament will take place on the final day, August 11. Play will most probably commence from 8.00am on Sunday if matches are carried over to the next day from Saturday. The organisers have kept open for entries until Wednesday (July 31) and the draw for groupings will be held on August 5, at 6.00pm at the CR&FC Old Pavilion.
