View(s):Wadduwa Central College is a reputed central college which has a proud history of 68 years. It is situated in the Panadura Zone and was 
initiated as a Central College under the backing of then Education Minister C.W.W.Kannangara. By providing high quality education, Wadduwa CC has produced a large number of impiortant citizens to the nation.
Rev. Thasthrapathi Poojyapada Hadigalla Wajira Nayaka Sthaweera, Principal
Combining three schools which were functioning under three different administration namely – Government English School, Government Boys’ School and Government Girls’ school, Wadduwa Central College was formed as one of the central colleges among 54 under the Central College concept of C.W.W.Kannangara. It’s a great privilege for the college to say that a pioneer Educationist, Prof. J.E.Jayasiriya was the first principal of the college. Since then more than 15 dedicated principals has served the college with true dedication. Especially, during the period of Mr. A.G.G.Perera (1946) the first big match against Piliyandala Central College was initiated. During the first phase, Wadduwa CC reached its first milestone when L.L.G.Alwis became the first student from Piliyandala Central to enter the university 1954. Principal Lionel Lokuliyana pioneered to initiate the Science Laboratory, the main hall, language unit and the playground.

entrants to universities. At some stages during principal K.L.Piyasena’s period, Wadduwa CC was able to add the primary section to the college.
The Cricket Team
Today, Wadduwa CC commemorating 68 years of academic excellence, having a student population of more than 1640 students and a tutorial staff of nearly 71. Rev. Thasthrapathi Poojyapada Hadigalla Wajira Nayaka Sthaweera, the present principal was appointed on June 6, 2013 as the first Buddhist monk to the school and he is also the head of “Kalpitiya Bhavana Centre“. The college is fortunate to have the Reverend as the principal as his experience, serving in various schools and the religious guidance can open the doors to a new path in a new era. The Reverend was awarded “Vidya Bhooshana Award” in 2008 for his excellent services in the field of education.
Wadduwa CC has selected for the Mahindodaya 1000 Super School Project and the college is experiencing major developments which are to be completed in the year 2014.
Over the years, Wadduwa CC has earned a reputation for their academic excellence. Since the inception the students have been upholding major achievements in public exaaminations. Annually a good number of students get through the Grade 5 scholarship examinations while bringing in a few extra ordinary results as well. The G.C.E. (O/L) passing percentage has gradually increased over the years.

The GCE (A/L) streams are the other successful area where Wadduwa CC has shown its colours. They were able to achieve many outstanding results with several entering universities during the past few decades.
Wadduwa CC student possess outstanding skills in sports, dancing, music, and many other co-curricular activities. Annually they bag many victories not only at zonal level but also in provincial and all island level. The cricket team is one of the leading teams in the Western Province and they have emerged champions at several competitions.
Highest educational triumphs, excellent discipline and the careful supervision that they have maintained, have given a unique place to Wadduwa Central College in the Island.
