KPMG signs MOU with Accounting Dept, of Jayewardenepura University
View(s):KPMG in Sri Lanka recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Accounting of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, enabling the two organisations to work in collaboration towards the advancement of higher education and professional career opportunities in the field of accounting and finance in Sri Lanka.
The arrangement is aimed at providing practical learning opportunities for students at the university, where a series of knowledge sharing initiatives are to be implemented by the two organizations covering areas such as training, research and the provision of practical exposure to students, the accounting firm said.
A feature of the arrangement will be the setting up of an Endowed KPMG Professor of Accounting Post in the Department of Accounting at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The move makes formal an already strong relationship shared between the two establishments and further enhances KPMG’s commitment towards promoting education and knowledge empowerment, KPMG said in a media release.
The MoU was signed between Dr. N. L. A. Karunaratne, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Reyaz Mihular, Managing Partner of KPMG in Sri Lanka, in the presence of Professor Sampath Amaratunga, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the University, and Yohan Perera, Partner – People, Performance and Culture of KPMG.
