65th Anniversary celebration of Ex-23rd Colombo with a Career Guidance Seminar
View(s):The 65th anniversary celebration of the Past Girl Guides of Musaeus College will be illuminated with a career guidance project which will benefit the young minds, looking forward to mould their future career.
The EX 23rd Colombo (Past Girl Guides of Musaeus College) has organized a Career Guidance seminar, to be held on 7th September 2013 at the Conference Hall of HNB Tower, to mark their 65 years of Girl Guiding which will be open for all the present A/L girls in western Province, to receive guidance from the top class professionals.
Many distinguished professionals in fields of law, hospitality, banking, designing, medicine, journalism, advertising etc will grace the seminar with their presence. This will be a golden opportunity for the young ones and will empower their minds to decide on their future career path that they would like to embark on.
The president of the EX 23rd Colombo Club, Champa Morais said that the career guidance seminar is organized as an event to celebrate 65 years of girl guiding at Musaeus College and she is looking forwards to welcome their senior girl guides and all the A/L students of western province for this awaited event.
“As past girl guides, we have organized many events to raise funds and carried out many service projects. We are proud to say that these activities have benefited both the community and our girl guides to enhance their awareness in the importance of community service. The seminar is also initiated with the objectives of providing a chance to the young students to meet these highly qualified professionals and get an impression of which career path they should choose. This will help them to choose their undergraduate study paths wisely” said Morais.
Morais explaining some of the their past project, quipped that the Ex 23rd Colombo Club has also an ongoing project called “Musaeus to Mirusuwil – Building Bridges from North to South” which provides scholarships for A/L students in the Tamil Roman Catholic Mixed School in Mirusuvil, Jaffna. The scholarships were funded by an Ex Girl Guide of Musaeus and the Club has funded the school to start a library. The club has also extended financial support to the O/L students for their extra classes, etc. Morais said “the club is also hoping to rebuild their school hall in the near future”.
Achievers Lanka Business School (Pvt) Ltd which is a leading institute for CIMA with an annual student intake of 6000 is the main sponsor of this career guidance seminar. The institute focuses not only in producing top scoring students but also to build up the personal, interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills of the students. They also offer merit based scholarships for top scoring students.
AOD International Design Campus which is appointed by Nothumbria University School of Design (UK), is one of the co-sponsors of this event. AOD is the world renowned British university that offers distinguished fashion and design degrees.
Mother’s Touch International Academy, a pioneer in the field of training early childhood educators and caregivers is also appears as another co-sponsor. Mothers’ Touch International Academy has facilitated their students to gain skilled migration to Australia and many other students have been able to receive employment in countries such as Australia, Singapore, United States, New Zealand, and United Kingdom.
