Orient Academy ties up with the IHRA of the Colombo University in order to conduct an IT and Management Diploma
View(s):The leading IT, English and soft skills training academy in Sri Lanka has recently tied up with the institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA)of the Colombo University in order to conduct an industrial oriented Diploma Programme which has been designed for the people who are seeking job oriented, blended programmes. This programme has been named by the university as the “Diploma in Information Technology and Management”. It has become an obvious fact that the IT is one of the booming industries in the country and in the region which is producing innovative opportunities.
There are immense numbers of institutes who are offering IT programmes, but it has been questioned by the general public about the reputation of these institutes and programmes. Also the other area which is in question is; are these programmes really drawing the attention towards other emerging trends in the industry. For instance, only will pure IT knowledge be helpful for them to be in the industry? Answering these questions through a comprehensive product, the Institute of Human Resource Advancement of the University of Colombo has introduced this diploma programme with its long years of excellence and Orient Academy’s industrial expertise to deliver the product. Orient Academy has been selected as it has a penetrated branch network all across the country for the benefits of rural candidates too. The only involvement of Orient Academy in this diploma is academic delivery and the other all matters such as product ownership, examination, certification etc. are in the university custody.
This programme also will be very helpful for the students who are missing university entrance even after passing the examination. Any candidate who has A/L qualifications in any stream is encouraged to study this one year diploma which is leading to an MBM (Master of Business Management). In addition, Diploma holders also may study for the Masters in HRM after completing the executive diploma at IHRA. The other important value addition of this programme is affordability. It has become a dream to study upto masters in a private university under paid programmes as they are extremely expensive. But, IHRA as an institute which is attached to a very responsible state university has taken necessary initiatives to make this programme very affordable upto masters level. Therefore, this will be a national initiative to help the education enthusiasts who are below the poverty line.
Addressing the gathering of this product launch, Director-IHRA, Dr. Rohan perera expressed that his goal is to create opportunities for the students to study upto PhD level in the future without marginalizing anyone in the country.
