Focus on ‘Veedi Pahan’
View(s):‘Veedi Pahan’, a teledrama reflecting the suffering and pains of children who have been sidelined in society is now being telecast at 7.30 pm on every Saturday and Sunday on Swarnavahini channel.
The teledrama stars Hyacinth Wijeratne, Nihal Fernando, Janak Premalal, Gayana Sudarshani, Sahan Wijesinghe, Neetha Samaranayake, Menaka Madhuwanthi, Nirdha Uyanhewa, Daya Tennekoon , Nimmi Priyadarshani, Tran Aminda, Sunil Walpita, Nimali Kapuge, Manjula Weerasinghe, Thula Jayatissa and Sisila Sirisomapala.
Kanchu and Milee are two children who were brought up in a rural walawwa. After their mother’s death their father marries again but the step mother’s ill treatment towards them gets untolerable unbearable.
Things become worse when their father Arachchi also dies. In order to own all the property, the step mother Balanona plan to get rid of the two children. She gets her brother Amadoru to abandon the two children in the Colombo city. Wimalawathi who is the maid in the walawwa is deeply angered by the cruelty of Balanona.
A man known as ‘Bath Man’ takes the two children and hands them over to a person called professor who also lives in a shanty neighbourhood. Professor who is addicted to liquor, leads a frustrated life. But after the arrival of the two children he begins to change his lifestyle. Meanwhle Balanona disappears from the walawwa. A frightened Amadoru brings another woman called Alanona to the walawwa.
While the children face various hardship in the city they meet Victoria and Rahel – a grandmother and granddaughter – who also undergo sufferings in the urban society. ‘Veedi Pahan’x focuses on the pains, sorrows, happiness and tears of these characters.
Directed by Malaka Nandana and produced by Sahan Wijesinghe, the technical crew of ‘Veedi Pahan’ include Thushari Abeysekara screenplay writer, Thusitha Anuradha camera, Wiranga Ketipearachchi editor and Navaratne Gamage music director.
