Andrew Udeshi wins closely fought Oman Air Golf Classic 2013
View(s):Andrew Udeshi stamped his authority outclassing over 75 other competitors to win the Oman Air Golf Classic 2013 which held last weekend at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort in Digana, Kandy. Udeshi won the overall championship while Martin Miller emerged the runner-up in a thrilling competition which had to be decided by a tri-breaker.
Udeshi clinched the trophy by making a final combined two round score of 82 with a handicap of 14. Miller with a handicap of 20 also made a combined Nett score of 82, forcing the Tournament Committee to implement the tie-breaker system of count back on the back 9 holes. Udeshi was declared winner with a slightly more
consistent performance of 18:39 over Millers 18:38.
Among other category winners, Suven Selvarathne won the longest drive for ladies while its prize for gents was shared by Johan Wasserman and Srinath Rajapakse. The nearest to the pin award for ladies was claimed by Niranjalie Amarasinghe as Harin Udeshi won its gents’ category. Suven Selvarathne went on to win the Ladies Gross award as Sanjeewa Wickramanayake pocketed the prize of Gents Gross. The tournament was conducted over the course of two days with the participation of over 75 golfers from Sri Lanka, Australia and the Middle East.
