United Holidays rebranded as Abercrombie & Kent Sri Lanka
View(s):United Holidays has been rebranded Abercrombie & Kent Sri Lanka with Ms. Gayangi Wirasinha appointed as its Managing Director.
The 50 year-old Abercrombie & Kent, the world’s foremost luxury travel company with a global network of 51 offices, has taken a controlling interest in United Holidays.
Afghar Mohideen, owner and founder of United Holidays remains a shareholder of the business and continues as Chairman of the rebranded company. A&K Sri Lanka’s operations willl open in September, the company said in a media statement.
A&K CEO Ian Coghlan said, “Sri Lanka has always been a favourite destination of mine and offers everything, amazing culture with eight UNESCO World Heritage sites, great beaches and national parks with abundance of wildlife especially leopard and elephant. Sri Lanka really has got it all – culture, wildlife and beaches.”
A&K Sri Lanka says it is committed to its investment in Sri Lanka, with direct flights offered by many European and Asian airlines, and tourism which has increased by 20 per cent in 2012 and continues to rise is 2013.
United Holidays Founder Afghar Mohideen commented, “We are delighted to team up with Abercrombie & Kent a name synonymous with high end quality tourism. Sri Lanka tourism is very well poised and has been looking forward to move in to this segment of tourism and we are glad that we found the right home for us to fulfill this potential.”
