UCLan Business head visits SLF
View(s):Sri Lanka Foundation (SLF) as a centre for leadership, education, and training offers a wide range of academic programs in dynamic fields namely, Social and Institutional Development, Psychology and Counseling, Business and Enterprise Management, Language and ICT, Digital Film Academy, Tourism & Hospitality Management and the centre for Wellbeing. The SLF was incorporated by Act of Parliament in 1973 and functions autonomously under the purview of the Presidential Secretariat and is managed by a Board under the chairmanship of Professor Ranjith Bandara.
The Chairman of SLF Prof. Ranjith Bandara welcomed Dharma Kovvuri the Dean of the Business School from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) when he visited SLF during his stay in Sri Lanka. The visit to the SLF was to agree to a method by which the university could provide a high quality MBA at the Foundation at an affordable price to the Public Sector through bursaries and scholarships. The affiliation between the SLF and UCLan is in support of a commitment to Sri Lanka which endorses the setting up of a major campus at Mirigama which will provide facilities for five faculties and accommodate up to 10,000 students.
The university is also committed to working with the Foundation in research ranging from Microfinance to Tourism so that it will not only offer students degree courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels but build a body of expertise in important areas of growth in Sri Lanka. One such project is the development work that the SLF is carrying out with Sri Lanka Tourism. There are future developments under consideration which the university (UCLan) will undertake before the campus project begins which demonstrates their commitment to being here in Sri Lanka for a long term and not just for short term financial gains that could be made.
