“ Wisdom a flower … in the garden of knowledge”
The International Quizzing Association (IQA) Sri Lanka branch will be conducting the “IQA Wisdom Ultimate Quiz Challenge” on September 14, at Kingsbury Colombo. This will be the eighth consecutive year for this very popular “Wisdom Quiz” which has now become the premier quizzing event in Sri Lanka.
Quizzing is already a popular mind-game in Sri Lanka, and its ever-growing popularity is evident from the increasing number of teams that have been participating in this competition over the years. Last year’s Wisdom Quiz had 46 five member teams competing for honours and in keeping with the increasing trend over the years, the organisers envisage over 50 teams would take part this year.
The competition will be open to Mercantile firms / state organisations, Schools/ educational institutes, Banks & financial institutions and teams formed by independent groups of individuals.
The questions for the IQA Wisdom Quiz will be compiled by Ruwan Senanayake, who is Sri Lanka’s representative of the International Quizzing Association. The high standard of his questions and the manner in which he has made some questions very interesting even to those witnessing the quiz, by way of visuals, video clips and movie clips – has enabled the Wisdom Quiz to be ranked as one of the most looked forward to quiz events in the country.
Another noteworthy feature of this quiz is that no team has emerged as overall winners on more than one occasion.
The prize money on offer for the winners of IQA Wisdom 2013 will be Rs 100,000/- in addition to the IQA Wisdom Trophy. The runners-up will receive Rs 50,000/= and a trophy. The 3rd 4th and 5th placed teams will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 30,000/=, Rs 25,000/= and Rs 20,000/= respectively.
Questions for IQA Wisdom 2013 will be based on 5 areas – Current Affairs, Sports, General Knowledge, Space & Astronomy & Arts/Literature and Entertainment.

The registration fee is Rs 15,000/= per team and IQA will extend a special concessionary registration fee of Rs 8,000/- for school teams in a bid to further assist the younger stars of the future on this knowledge enhancement initiative.
Applications will be accepted on a “first come – first served” basis as only a limited number of teams could be accomodated, Quizzers are therefore advised to register early to secure their places in this prestigious Quiz event.
