The Future Minds – National higher education and career exhibition organised by the Nalanda Junior Old Boys Association will be held in Galle next week.

This exhibition which was already held in Colombo and Kandy earlier this year, will be held at the Galle Town Hall on September 7 and 8 from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm.

“This is the second time we are going to Galle. During the early years of the exhibition, it was held only in Colombo. now we have widened our horizons to reach students and career seekers in other parts of the country as well,” said ‘The Future Minds’, Chairman Ravi Hettiarachchi.

He said that, through the Galle exhibition, they hope to cover areas from Ambalangoda to Hambanthota. “We hope to take our exhibition to the Southern community, because next to Colombo and Kandy, this area shows interest in educational exhibitions,” he said.

‘The Future Minds’ provides guidance to students who have finished their Ordinary Level Examination, to choose a path they are interested in.

“Students who are to do Advance Level (A/L) Examinations, can follow a course that will give them an added qualification for whatever path they have chosen, before they start studying for their A/Ls. Also, students who don’t want to follow A/Ls, can start a recognised course. Even an individual who is already employed can follow a course that will add value to their employability. All these will be under one roof,” Mr. Hettiarachchi said.

He said that, as Sri Lanka is quite different from than other countries, because parents spend on their children’s higher education, they encourage parents to join the student to find a course they wish to do. “This will help parents understand the validity and the reliably of the course that they are funding.”

This year’s Future Minds will have special stalls for females, with the focus on hairdressing, cookery and fashion design.
Each year, over 20,000 people visit the exhibition, to get educational and career guidance. The Future Minds crew believes that the number will be the same in Galle this year.
