Dialog connects AIA in SL to Malaysia via iMPLS
View(s):Locally dominant celco Dialog has implemented a MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) international telecommunications connectivity solution for AIA, the Sri Lankan unit of the Pan Asian insurance group by the same name.
Dialog’s enterprise solution, called “iMPLS”, will connect Colombo, in Sri Lanka, to Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia, where the AIA group has its shared infrastructure hosted.
Additionally, this solution will run on a “multiple submarine cable system with ring networks towards east and west of Sri Lanka [ensuring] that customers’ traffic is uninterrupted during a submarine cable failure. Dialog’s iMPLS service is backed by Dialog owned redundant MPLS nodes in Point of Presence (PoP) at Singapore, Hong Kong and UK (United Kingdom)”, according to a statement by the celco.
Further, the statement also noted that “Dialog’s proven ability to customise a solution based on the customer’s requirements including balancing cost considerations was a critical reason for AIA to decide on a Dialog Enterprise powered solution.
The iMPLS connectivity solution ensures that AIA’s vital business requirements are met and supported by a 24×7 operational team backed by state of the art end to end network monitoring systems”.
At the same time, quoted in its statement, Dialog Enterprise Chief Officer Jeremy Huxtable stated that the company’s investment in the “new submarine cable system, the Bay of Bengal Gateway (BBG) will lower the cost of connectivity for Sri Lankan Enterprses, making them competitive in the global market place”.
