Foundation in Business Studies leading to Edexcel HND, only at HRMI
View(s):A six months Foundation Course leading to the Edexcel Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business is being conducted at HRMI to provide a solid orientation to students planning to start the HND. The Foundation syllabus will touch-upon most of the modules covered in the HND in order to enable students to familiarise themselves with the subject content and assessment methodology. Mr. Gihan Talgodapitiya, Director of Human Resource Management Institute stated, ‘This course will immensely benefit students who have not pursued Business Studies at school level. Students who have done Maths, Bio-science or Arts always have their reservations about coping up with Business or Management related subjects. This Foundation Course will provide plenty of familiarisation with real HND subject matter and such worries can be relieved’. Mr. Talgodapitiya further commented on the Edexcel assessment methodology.‘There are no examinations in the HND. Instead every module is assessed with an assignment. During the Foundation stage students will undergo specialised training to fulfill the assignment criteria and will have plenty of opportunities to do practice assignments. This training will eradicate the uncertainties students often have when doing assignments for the first time’. During the Foundation stage, students will be provided with most of the study packs and text books used at the HND stage in order to enable them to familiarise with the subject matter.
On completion of the Foundation which will be held on Saturdays, students have a choice of pursuing the HND either on a Full-time or a Part-time basis. At HRMI students are provided with Internship Training in order to facilitate appropriate employment without any undue stress or delay. Internship training is arranged by HRMI with reputed companies where good HR management practices are in place. Part time students have the opportunity of participating in the internship training programme whist pursuing their HND and full-time students can opt for a transfer to part time programme to undergo internship training or avail themselves of the opportunity on completion of the HND.
