‘LAHES Professional Diploma in Business Administration’ a great success – Education coupled with employment!
View(s):LAHES – The Corporate Campus is paving the way for school leavers to gain knowledge in a multitude of subject areas as well as obtain the much needed work experience. Students who completed the 2012/2013 programme were awarded their Diplomas recently. Furthermore, the best students of the programme were offered Management Trainee positions at LAUGFS, which is a unique feature of the programme.

Wegapitiya, Group Managing Director LAUGFS – Mr. Thilak De Silva and Director/Chief Executive Officer LAHES – Ms. Vindhya Weeratunga, Group General Manager HRD – Mr. Hector Perera and General Manager Projects – Mr. Sarath De Silva.
Five, enthusiastic and bright students, coming from very diverse backgrounds, started their careers at LAUGFS as Management Trainees, having topped the batch at the LAHES Professional Diploma in Business Administration programme. The students who were selected as Management Trainees are; Varuna Gunawardena, Joanna Muthiah, Praveena Thillainathan, Nipuna Kumarage and Buddhika Rajapaksha. They are equipped with the knowledge and attitude as well as relevant skills to start their careers. As Management Trainees, they will be further developed under the guidance of LAHES as they work in LAUGFS subsidiaries.
The Diploma is structured to equip the students with the knowledge of an array of subjects during the first three months of classroom learning. The classroom learning is followed by a three-month, full-time internship.
Commenting on the programme, Director/Chief Executive Officer, Vindhya Weeratunga said, “Through the LAHES Professional Diploma in Business Administration programme, we aim at filling the gap that exists in terms of the required knowledge and skills to fill the available job opportunities. Our target audience is school leavers as we believe in catching them young and putting them on the right path. We help the students identify their strengths during the programme and during the internship we guide them towards employment that enables them to apply their strengths.”
