MSc in Project Management for the first time in Sri Lanka

The demand for professionals in this field is rising rapidly, and those with reputed qualifications can expect lucrative job opportunities. With this is mind, the Global Institute of Project Management (GIPM) is introducing an international Masters Degree in Project Management. It is the first time that such a qualification is being offered in Sri Lanka.

She noted that it blends the theoretical and practical aspects to greatly enhance one’s career prospects and will be recognized both locally and internationally. According to Dr. Madhu, the qualification will greatly boost one’s career profile. This one-year MSc Degree is offered in affiliation with the renowned Asia e University in Malaysia. Students with a university degree or a diploma with 3 years working experience are eligible to apply.
Degree programmes offered by Asia eUniversity have been popular in Sri Lanka for more than 5 years, due to its quality and the affordable price. The programme is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka. The eminent lecture panel include management faculties of universities and experts from the industry, including Dr. Ranjan Madanayake, an expert in marketing and strategic management, and Dr. Madhu Fernando, a globally recognized Project Management expert.
This comprehensive programme was designed with the aim to create outstanding project leaders. It covers the areas of project management theory and practice; project management standards, tools and techniques; project organization, project governance and business strategy; leading and managing project teams; interpersonal skills for project managers; and business research methods. At the end of the programme, students require to submit a Research, demonstrating their knowledge in Project Management.

GIPM also plan to introduce a Bachelor Degree specializing in Project Management during the first quarter 2014, and expand in to other areas of business where project management plays a key role.
Founded by Dr. Madhu Fernando and Mr. Amal Perera, GIPM has been successfully offering corporate training for many clients. Executive MSc in Project Management degree is offered to introduce a recognized qualification which is not currently available in Sri Lanka in the field of project management education.
