Colombo will have the rare experience of sampling a taste of the most popular genres of Brazilian music, like “samba”, “choro” and “baião”, when composer and saxophonist Quito Pedrosa and pianist Marco Tommaso perform at the Russian Cultural Centre on September 6, at 7 p.m. The duo will present a repertoire of classical themes of Brazilian popular music and “bossa nova”, as well as Pedrosa’s compositions, giving them touches of jazzy improvisation.

Quito Pedrosa was born in Rio de Janeiro, where he presently lives. The composer, arranger, guitarist and saxophonist, lived and studied in Brasilia, Madrid, Lima and Paris. With four CDs recorded, Quito Pedrosa has performed in the most well-known spaces of the instrumental music circuit of Rio, Madrid and in several other cities of Spain. In addition to his instrumental work, he has composed soundtracks for theatre and cinema.

Marco Tommaso is also from Rio de Janeiro, where he has studied piano since the age of seven. He was a student of Luiz Eça, a very famous musician in Brazil, with whom he developed a method of harmony applied to jazz and popular music. He is the composer of soundtracks for several successful films.
