AOD Graphic Design Student Sahil Gunasekera to represent Sri Lanka at the Prestigious Spikes Asia Academy 2013- Singapore
View(s):Sahil Gunesekere of the Northumbria University UK graphic design degree at AOD International design campus was the only student from Sri Lanka to win a place at the very prestigious Young Creative Academy at Spikes Asia Singapore 2013.
Alain Parizeau Head of the Northumbria University UK Graphic Design programme at AOD International Design Campus said that this will be a great learning opportunity for Sahil. “We are very proud of Sahil and the fact that one of our students won shows that we are 
making great progress in the field of graphic design. We look forward to him sharing his learning from the Young Creative Academy,” he added.
Spikes Asia is an international competition and ad fest where students from all over Asia are invited to submit their work which will be reviewed by an elite panel of creative judges who will select only 15 top studens from the Asia Pacific Region. These students then get a 3-day exclusive learning opportunity conducted by world class personalities in graphic design and advertising. The students are also given an opportunity to participate in the seminars & workshops during the Spikes Asia ad fest.
All local competitions in connection with Spikes Asia are conducted by Metal Factor, Sri Lanka. Ranil de Silva, the head of Metal Factor mentioned in an official statement released to the news; “Sahil has earned for himself an outstanding opportunity to attend the Spikes Asia Academy which would provide him and in-depth understanding of the marketing communications industry in the 21st century. I am sure that this programme will equip him to meet with success in this industry as an aspiring young professional. It is most commendable that Sahil was selected for this programme. His portfolio was judged by a panel who selected 15 of the most promising students from the region. I am confident that he would bring back with him valuable learning which would empower his career.”
